In
1994 Taylor Building Products' market research showed there was a significant market
for an all-steel stainable product line. We decided to invest in the tooling necessary
to manufacture an all-steel
edge door that would accept stain or paint and give
the look of an oak-grained wood door. This all-steel construction virtually eliminated
call-backs while providing the added benefit of strength and security. To further
enhance the marketing potential of the Stainable Steel doors the steel thickness
was increased from 24 gauge to 22 gauge. This not only decreased the dentability
of the door but also gave it the weight of a wood door. To further add value, Taylor
Building Products' patented adjustable hinge plate system was added to the Stainable
Steel door line. Flush, four, six and nine panel door styles with architecturally
correct stile and rail oak graining and matching sidelites completed the product
line.
Stainable Steel doors were introduced to the market with a proprietary decorative
glasslite line to help promote sales for the distributor and dealer. A major dealer
marketing program was introduced to provide the necessary sales tools, displays
and training. This integrated marketing approach has been successful in introducing
the product to the market and generating more sales for the dealer and distributor.
An expanded light commercial product line, fiberglass, 8' steel doors and fire rated steel frames are other innovations from Taylor Building Products. These products
address the need of our distributors to develop other markets for steel entry doors. In conjunction with these product innovations, a two week lead time is now standard
on all
products. This commitment to new products and service continues to be the
cornerstone of the management philosophy of Taylor Building Products.
