Secur-A-Storm II by Taylor Building Products has been tested, evaluated and is in compliance with the 2007 Florida Building Code (FBC) structural requirements including the “High Velocity Hurricane Zone” (HVHZ) the most stringent hurricane standards in the United States. Product approvals can be found at the FBC website on-line at www.floridabuilding.org under Taylor Building Products. Copies of these approvals are also available from one of our sales professionals. Approval numbers for the Secur-AStorm II system are FL10876 for opaque doors with or without sidelights and FL10888 for glazed doors with or without sidelights. Both of these approvals include 6’8” and 8’0” doors in X, XO or OX, XX, OXO, and OXXO configurations. Secur-A-Storm II door lite component approvals are in process, see FBC website for additional details including approval numbers.

Secur-A-Storm II brings refreshing new options for exterior door design and decorative glass options. These include all of Taylor Building Products steel door embossment options, stainable steel, and 26 unique decorative glass collections. Each Secur-A-Storm II system can be assembled with the appropriate components to be FBC compliant. This compliance can be provided with Notice of Product Certifications through a Third Party Quality Assurance program.

When used in the “HVHZ” Secur-A-Storm II complies with section 1626 of the Florida Building Code and does not require an impact resistant covering. Outswing versions of the product also meet the water infiltration requirements of the “HVHZ”. When used in areas outside the “HVHZ”, requiring wind borne debris protection, Secur-A-Storm II complies with Section 1609.1.2 of the 2007 FBC and does not require an impact resistant covering. Secur-A-Storm II also meets missile level “D” and includes Wind Zone 4 as defined in ASTM E1996.
